Flash Versus jQuery in Website Development

Computer languages are just as essential in today’s world as spoken languages. From the time of inception it has progressed to what it is today, few codes on which the whole gamut of the web world is revolving. Two such common applications are the jQuery and the Adobe Flash.

jQuery is a new kind of fast and concise JavaScript library which emphasizes the interaction between JavaScripts and HTML, whereas Flash is a multimedia platform which can control vector and raster graphics and even support bidirectional streaming of audio and video. The functionality of these two applications helped to create popular animation and interactivity to a plain and simple webpage, that was not possible before. There are many additional intriguing things that one can do with these two applications, which is gradually taking over the world.

Since its introduction in the year 1996, Adobe Flash has become quite a popular method of incorporating animation and various kinds of interactivity to the web pages. By making use of its scripting language known as the ActionScript, Flash took animation to a new level altogether. Then in the year 2006, jQuery came into being and took over as the most popular JavaScript to be used by the web developers. Developed to make navigation round a document easier and faster, jQuery enables the user to very effectively find and manipulate HTML elements with minimum lines of codes. Even though it is not known to be the best solution for 3-D and vector based graphics, the adaptability of jQuery is truly quite astounding making it a far greater option to Flash.

Regarding Flash, some of the plus points include its substantial features, 3D capabilities, unfailing appearance in supported browsers, built-in User Interface and other features, supporting vector artworks, lots of font options and off course many free and commercial tools are also available here. Whereas in jQuery, the file size is relatively smaller, there are many free professional quality programs that one can use, one can add various types of interactivity to the webpage elements and its tags and its compatibility is much higher in contrast to that of Flash, which includes iPhone, cell phones, PS3 and PSP.

It is therefore essential to understand when to use either of these two applications as opposed to each other. While creating a Slide Show, Form Validation, Drop-down Menus, Tabbed Panels, Pop-ups & Tool-tips, and Expandable & Collapsible Elements it is ideal to use jQuery. Once more when working with Video or Audio Player, complex Animations, 3Ds and other forms of complex Multimedia, using Adobe Flash is the best. With more and more different types of plug-ins becoming available, its best to know beforehand what you’re trying to achieve and then assessing both the technologies before using one.

With the continued growth of the internet developers are continuously discovering new technologies to provide alternatives that are simple and user-friendly so that users can get the most benefits from the applications that they use.

When making a web application sometimes after a user submits a form they will need to go back to that form. Well it would be nice if all the form data was there. It would also be nice to not have to change any of the input tags. Using jquery and php’s foreach loop when the user submits the form, the php page will loop through the $ _POST array and create a string that will then be sent back to form page in the URL. On that page use a foreach loop in a php section inside of a jquery document.ready to spit out $ (‘[name=fieldname'].val(‘field value); And field name is equal to the key of the $ _REQUEST and value is equal to the value of that request array. see the video for more detail

    This video is really good…
But I have a question that how do i post the incorrect data on the sane page..i.e. while I am having some error checking techniques to see if all the fields have been filled up.
I used a error[] array to store the errors but could not post the errors.

Your opinion matters. Add it below.

Tip: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>
